The types of the USA license plates

The USA has no a common format of the license plates. So each American state issues plate numbers of a different design (in colors and symbols). The US plates may have two different formats: the symbol format and the slogan one. Nowadays the most popular format in our country is the symbol format which contains letters and digitals. The amount of letters and digitals may differ for each state. And it depends on the state’s total population (from 2 to 8 symbols). The plates in the USA were standardized at a size of 6 in × 12 in. So you can't change the dimensions of the license plate by yourself. In America car owners may also pay additional fees for personalized numbers, also known as "extra" plates. The vehicle owner selects a license plate design and the displayed text that is different from the ordinary license plate. Fees for personalized plate numbers are usually directed to charity and well doing. On our website you can find the detailed information about the series of the license plates in the USA.
